What does comfort mean to you?

Achieving a level of contentment that being anything but myself is out of the realm of possibility.

Are you team PJ set or team Nightie? And what's your This Is J pajama style of choice?

Believe it or not I have been consistently playing on both teams since my early 20s! I love slipping into a nightie because it makes me feel super feminine as I prance around the apartment or just reading in bed but I adore, ADORE a soft pyjama set because in my humble opinion, one of the greatest feelings is cosy. I mean think of all the positive feelings that are derived from a cosy state; joy, happiness, contentment.  It’s really hard to beat a cosy pyjama set. My favourite This is J style without fail is the Henley Harem Set.  So comfortable, so soft and the perfect cut.

What's the first thing you do when you walk through your door at the end of the day?

I ALWAYS change into loungewear or pyjamas but usually it's pyjamas.  I associate arriving home with total freedom so naturally I want to feel free. I run too cold to be naked so pyjamas it is!

What's the most important thing you look for in sleepwear?

It’s how the sleepwear feels for me.  It can look comfortable but it may not actually feel it. The material really goes a long way and not only in how it feels but how long the sleepwear will last.  Cost per wear is important.

Do you have a bedtime routine? If so, what do you do to prep for sleep?

I’ve had the same routine for a few years now and it starts with a shower, followed by a full PM skincare routine right after, a large mug of chamomile tea, and a book in bed. Brigitte Truong

When was the last time you stayed in jammers all day (AKA had the best day ever)?

The last time I stayed in jammers all day was in Ireland but it wasn’t the ideal scenario because I  had caught the flu! However, the second last time was a dream; I hung out in jammers around the clock and it was JOYOUS. I remember it vividly being a cold and cloudy Sunday in January. I didn’t have a single plan that day and I didn’t have any intentions of making any.  My partner, puppy and I binged true crime docs and dusted off an Italian cookbook and whipped up a carbonara for dinner.  It was so good! Thanks for jogging my memory on that day.  I’d love a repeat now that I’m reminiscing.

What's the best part of your day (in a typical day)?

Lately my favourite time of day has been dinner time.  I’ve never been a big cook for myself but ever since I moved in with my partner Keith, we’ve taken cooking pretty seriously; exploring cook books, bringing old family recipes to life in our kitchen, and experimenting on our own. Even though we both work from home, dinner time is the time of day that we actually get to catch up so it’s always nice to just be together and eat in stretchy pants which is one of our favourite pastimes!

We love that your podcast, #HomeGirlNation is all about having real, candid conversations about some of the tougher topics surrounding womanhood. What guest has inspired you the most personally?

This is so tough! I really mean this when I say that every single woman I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with the past two seasons have respectively inspired me to be more vulnerable, courageous and inquisitive.  Melissa Leong inspired me to look at money differently, Alicia Mccarvell inspired me to give myself a break and appreciate my magic more, Madelyn Chung inspired me to take a stronger stance on societal issues I believe in.  Women are naturally teachers among other beautiful roles they take on and qualities they possess and I’m very privileged to meet and connect with so many courageous ones on the show.

Who has been your most important professional mentor?

Unfortunately I have yet to find a mentor but to have one has always been a dream of mine! That being said, I’ve found great success from autobiographies and books by those who have accomplished what I’ve wanted to in my career so far.  Oprah is definitely at the top of that indirect mentor list.

Are you a go out and dance on tables or stay in and stay cozy type of person?

So, old Brigitte would’ve been the easiest person to drag out past 9pm, even if she had her pyjamas on and zit cream strategically placed on her face. She RALLIED. She wouldn’t have been the first one on the dance floor but she would’ve been quick to follow in her cute fitted outfit that was never warm enough. New Brig though; new Brig is the complete opposite! She loves cosying up to a good doc, her KOBO, cooking to vinyls, and loves cancelling the day by 9pm.

I don’t know why that entire answer was in third person but I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed the outer body experience.

How did you discover This Is J?

I discovered This Is J in a press release that was sent to me via email a few years back! I remember reading ‘made from bamboo, ethically produced in Canada, and female founded’ and immediately salivated. I got my first set pretty quickly after and fell in love. You can just feel Jaimie’s integrity and love for quality loungewear as soon as that bamboo touches your skin.  IT HITS!

We know you travel a lot for work (shoutout to your show on USA Today Network, Sister Cities) and for pleasure. What are three items that you always bring with you ot ensure comfort on the road?

Thank you so much for the love! This is a tough one as I have a lot of non negotiables when it comes to the comfort kit on the road but the three that I’ve been packing without question the past year or so:

  1. Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask
  2. Classic Tall Uggs
  3. The Relaxed Long Sleeve Harem Set in Green Plaid

If you could go back and give your 18-year-old self one piece of advice, what would it be?

If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will.

Keep up with Brigitte Truong
